Kamasi Washington

Kamasi Washington

There have been so many prodigies and media sensations in jazz. But when the saxophonist born in Los Angeles is brought to the fore in 2015 with the aptly named album The Epic, just after having excelled in the rapper Kendrick Lamar’s masterpiece To Pimp A Butterfly, we had gotten out of the habit of being so captivated by beats, but also by the universe and the aura of an instrumentalist. Embodying the renewal of the jazz known as “spiritual”, Kamasi Washington collaborates with great American rappers like Childish Gambino and he is close to artists blending jazz and hip-hop (the keyboarder Robert Glasper or the bass player Thundercat). He continues to cultivate his versatility and released in 2024 the album Fearless Movement, composed with a new maturity and a fresh and flawless inspiration. His concert promises to be one of the biggest moments of this 2025 edition.

Meshell Ndegeocello

Meshell Ndegeocello

The unique singer-songwriter-bass player-conductor Meshell Ndegeocello started to work with the Blue Note label 2 years ago, when she was back to the fore. Since her beginnings in 1993, this politically committed artist has never conceded her freedom of speech, imposing straight away the image of a strong woman who has always reflected world’s joys and sorrows. Even if she collaborated with the greatest musicians (Herbie Hancock, Prince and even The Rolling Stones), people admired her for her own music. Each of her concerts is an unforgettable emotional travel during which she revisits the best parts of her two last masterpieces, The Omnichord Real Book and No More Water: The Gospel Of James Baldwin, dedicated to this major Afro-American figure of the fights against racism and exclusion.

Donny McCaslin & Ishkero

Talents Adami Jazz 2025
Donny McCaslin & Ishkero

Rezzo 2021 laureate, Ishkero will play for the second time on the Théâtre Antique’s big stage. The dream continues for this young band which embodies the future of an open and relaxed jazz, accepting the basics of improvisation with risk-taking tendencies on top of that. An emblematic member of the cult band Steps Ahead and the main soloist of David Bowie’s last album, the great saxophonist Donny McCaslin was right about Ishkero. As part of the initiative Talents Adami Jazz 2025, he chose to be in a way their musical mentor for this extraordinary evening. This intergenerational and passionate encounter is really looking good as it promises a genuine musical creation with no limits, blending sounds and senses to produce a better composition for the future.
