Dianne Reeves

The way Dianne Reeves has transcended the ages commands respect: since her beginnings in the mid 70s, her aura has continued to grow as she established herself as a jazz and soul reference. Among other projects, she released two unforgettable albums, the first in 1987 with some of the greatest instrumentalists Herbie Hancock, Freddie Hubbard and Tony Williams, and the other entitled New Morning which was recorded live ten years later at the club of the same name. Also, she regularly performed at Jazz à Vienne during the 00s. Now one of the biggest vocal jazz references of our times, this skilled artist has a unique status and is admired by generations young and old.

Madeleine Peyroux

Madeleine Peyroux

She has done so many things and travelled around the world so many times that we could relate Madeleine Peyroux’s story in a hundred different ways without repeating any information. All her performances at Jazz à Vienne show that her path is full of surprises: she first played at the Club in 1997, then at the Théâtre Antique in 2005 to support Ahmad Jamal, with all the glory of his biggest hits. This year, she comes back with what could be her best album, Let’s Walk. A politically committed collection, autobiographical and full of this spirit, subtlety and humour which the US are cruelly lacking and can be found in some of her most beautiful songs.

Célia Kameni - Méduse

For her last performance at Jazz à Vienne, Célia Kameni came with the pianist Alfio Origlio’s quartet for an enchanting project, infused by her sensitivity and her unmistakable skills. This sublime jazz singer, who was part of The Amazing Keystone Big Band, wanted to get rid of borders and labels. This year, she comes back with her personal project Méduse offering captivating and ethereal tracks. “Personal” doesn’t mean “solitary”. Always looking to create with others, she built a repertoire with Yaël Naïm. Her work is influenced by Björk, Nina Simone, Joni Mitchell or Moses Sumney. Célia Kameni feeds her jazz with modern soul, pop, folk and ambient music, among other genres, to produce a unique atmosphere, where intimate beats are blended with vibrations of the cello, the effect guitar or the prepared piano.
